Our trip to Miami last end of summer was short but memorable! If you haven’t read about our amazing stay, you can do that right here. In short, it was an amazing trip even though we weren’t in the city very long. It was our first time in Miami and it definitely won’t be our last. We visited quite a few places and feasted on delicious foods. But aside from the beautiful places we visited, we were also pampered at the Delano South Beach Hotel.
The Delano is one of the area’s most iconic boutique hotels found in Miami’s prestigious Art Deco neighborhood. We arrived a bit early Friday morning, but the front desk was kind enough to check us in early. We had an ocean-view room, and it was the most beautiful thing to wake up to during our stay. Starting your mornings looking at the ocean is magical and serene and definitely enhanced our stay in Miami!
The Delano is a world-renowned hotel that changed South Beach forever. The hotel is right on the beach along famed Collins Avenue and is known for its Art Deco architectural design. The hotel was built in 1947 by Rob and Rose Schwartz and the renovations in 1994 were designed by French designer Philippe Starck. It’s actually named after U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
The Architecture
Given it’s in the iconic Art Deco district in Miami, the Delano expands on this architectural theme with its beveled white facade that looks amazing from any view. It’s a timeless building that exudes the classic vibes of old-school Miami Beach. Although Miami Beach has changed over the years, the Delano has stood the test of time as it perfectly preserves the Art Deco spirit of this amazing neighborhood.

The Hotel Lobby
Once you’re done wondering at the beauty of the outside of the Delano, your fascination will continue as you walk through the lobby. The inside is just as spectacular as the exterior. The foyer is huge and has 50-foot white curtains hanging from the ceilings, that blow in the cool South Beach breeze. It’s almost as if you’ve stepped into a magazine shoot!
Rose Bar
The Rose Bar inside the Delano is a sophisticated and glamorous space that serves a wide variety of cocktails. It’s a nice spot for a drink and some quiet conversation. If you love people-watching, you’ll want to order your favorite drink and sit there as guests come and go in the lobby. But it’s the décor that’s appealing!
Delano Beach Club
One of the highlights of our trip was lounging by the pool! The Delano Beach Club is both picturesque and fun. The iconic pool has direct access to the ocean and features a luxurious poolside experience. Daybeds and chaise lounges line the pool, while cabanas are scattered throughout. Music is provided by a DJ spinning all the latest dance tunes. If we could have, we would have spent an entire day just lounging by the pool!
Leynia Restaurant
Leynia : This Argentinian Grill restaurant features flavors inspired by Japan and features open-flame cooking for quite the experience. We made sure to get in a visit before we left and had dinner there our last night at the hotel. It was literally one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had! We both had the chef’s menu, which was recommended to us by the restaurant manager—who was amazing by the way! The menu consisted of BBQ meats cooked to perfection. We also feasted on some Asian fusion cuisine like tuna-topped pizza and various sushi rolls, which were all so yummy. But my favorite dish was their grilled octopus, which still makes my mouth water just writing this! Led by Chef Jose Icardi, you’ll absolutely be amazed by the tableside food and drink presentations.
The Rooms
The rooms themselves were fabulous! The all-white décor was very minimalist and gave off a very clean look. They were fairly good sized and the amenities made it feel just like home. If you can, get an ocean view because it’s simply stunning. Room service was amazing and fast. The bed was super comfy and you melted in the linens as soon as you sat down.
Customer Service
Everyone at the hotel was super friendly. They went out of their way to make you feel at home and accommodate you in any way they could. I was greeted everywhere I went and the staff was always smiling. You could feel the warmth and welcoming nature of everyone.
The Delano South Beach is an amazing hotel that far exceeded my expectations. I travel quite a bit and this stay was one of my best yet! I loved everything about the hotel, including the staff, architecture, food, room and the pool! I highly recommend that you stay at the Delano South Beach on your next trip to Miami!
